Microdermabrasion Vs. Dermafrac
They are both excellent treatments and have proven results but which one is better for your skin care goals?
A skin consultation is the first most important step in deciding which treatment is best for you. Below is a brief on what you can expect from these two treatments:
Microdermabrasion has the function of working on the epidermal layer to gently exfoliate dead skin cells that build-up on the surface of the skin.
The two types of Microdermabrasion:
- Diamond
- Crystal
Diamond doesn’t emit out crystals, unlike the crystal Microdermabrasion. Rest assure whether you have the diamond or the crystal method they both produce excellent results!
How it works? The microdermabrasion tip creates a suction that is passed over the skin that assists in the removal of dead skin cells. It can also be concentrated on the problematic areas. At Exquisite Laser clinic we ensure that we never over exfoliate and compromise the barrier, whilst focusing on the importance of hydration during and after the treatment is crucial to protecting the skin’s barrier. Most importantly aftercare of sun care is a must.
What are the benefits?
- Improves uneven skin tone/ acne scars/ superficial Hyper-pigmentation
- Improves the appearance of open pores
- Softens fine lines and wrinkles
- Improves congestion
Skin will appear brighter, smoother and healthier after the first treatment
Dermafrac is a 4 in 1 treatment that is a highly effective aesthetic therapy for skin rejuvenation. It includes:
- Microdermabrasion (diamond exfoliation)
- Micro needling
- Infusion of topical serums
- LED light.
How it works? Microdermabrasion is passed onto the skin, which may feel slightly abrasive. Once the skin is prepped and the layer of dead skin cells has been buffed, this allows micro needling to be most effective. The word needling may be intimidating, but it isn’t scary as it sounds. The surgical-grade micro needles (0.25mm or 0.5mm) will be selected according to your skin. The controlled depth along with the vacuum suction allows less pain when it is gliding onto the skin. This creates a pathway for infusing and increasing absorption of the topical serum into the skin. Topical serums are selected depending on your skin concerns weather you are concerned with:
Anti-aging? Dullness? Hyperpigmentation? Acne? Hydration?
Lastly, LED red light will be hovered over the face to reduce inflammation, whilst healing and energises cellular function.
Lights will be bright! Eye protection will be worn, so just lie there and relaxJ
I have seen immediate results on clients and on MYSELF upon the first treatment. Clarity and hydration levels are amazing. Overall I found this treatment confortable. After the treatment my skin felt tingly and mild redness as expected. However, a course of treatments is recommended depending on the skin’s condition and expectation of what you want to achieve.
What are the benefits?
- Prevents and improves the appearance of aging
- Improves Hyperpigmentation
- Improves Scarring and uneven skin tone
- Improves hydration and plumps the skin
- Improves acne/ congested/oily/open and clogged pores
Microdermabrasion is pain free and has no down time.
Dermafrac is comparatively comfortable, but may leave the skin slightly tingly and mild redness after the treatment. After the treatment Mineral foundation will be applied to protect and heal the skin and you will be perfectly safe to go back to work.
My choice for maximum results would have to be Dermafrac for the most effective all in one treatment that exfoliates, hydrates, treats and repairs the skin. However, if your skin is in excellent condition and have no concerns and just needs a thorough exfoliation then microdermabrasion will do the job.
